Octave Small Aura Hoop Earrings
Description
MoMA Exclusive: “My work provides a modern frame for earth’s ancient works of art,” says Nigerian-born, Brooklyn-based jewelry designer Ope Omojola. “Every raw stone tells a story.” For the designs she produces for her brand Octave, Omojola cuts all of the stones herself (very few jewelry designers do this), which means she can offer shapes not often seen. These Small Aura Hoop Earrings are made from mother of pearl and borosilicate glass, with sterling silver posts (all of the silver Omojola uses has been recycled). “These earrings were inspired by the Sun's corona, the glowing aura of gas and light that is only visible from Earth during a solar eclipse,” explains Omojola. “The organic shape of the hand-formed glass felt like a halo around the crisp edges of the hand-cut stone.” All of her earring designs are kinetic—they sparkle and sway with the wearer. These Octave Small Aura Hoop Earrings are made in Brooklyn and measure 1.5l x 1w x 0.25"d.
