Venice Beach-based designer Sophie Monet creates jewelry that is informed by her father John Okulick’s art: large, abstract wood and metal sculptures. (He also built the studio where all of Monet’s jewelry is made.) Combining mid-century references with earth inspirations, this Mista Necklace is handcrafted from beads made from mixed wood (repurposed scraps from her father’s sculptures) and 16K gold-plated brass. The design reflects her commitment to sustainability. “I sculpt the materials that surround me, bringing natural elements into different contexts,” she says.
