Venice Beach-based designer Sophie Monet creates jewelry that is informed by her father John Okulick’s art: large, abstract wood and metal sculptures. (He also built the studio where all of Monet’s jewelry is made.) Combing mid-century references with earth inspirations, this Zuma Necklace is handcrafted from pine wood (repurposed scraps from her father’s sculptures), mother of pearl and a 14k gold-filled chain. The design reflects her commitment to sustainability. “I sculpt the materials that surround me, bringing natural elements into different contexts,” she says. This Sophie Monet Zuma Necklace is made in Los Angeles and has a 21"l chain and 0.9l x 9”w pendant. It can also be wrapped around the wrist or ankle to be worn as an anklet or bracelet.
