MoMA Exclusive: “My work provides a modern frame for earth’s ancient works of art,” says Nigerian-born, Brooklyn-based jewelry designer Ope Omojola. “Every raw stone tells a story.” For the designs she produces for her brand Octave, Omojola cuts all of the stones herself (very few jewelry designers do this), which means she can offer shapes not often seen. For this Moonbeam Necklace, she uses green jade and recycled sterling silver. “I wanted to channel the shape of a beam of light through colorful stone,” notes Omojola. This Octave Moonbeam Necklace is made in Brooklyn and has a pendant that measures 0.75l x .75w with a 16-18”l chain.
