Octave Moonbeam Stud Earrings
Description
MoMA Exclusive: Inspired by the characteristics of the materials they’re made from—the malleability of metal and the permanence of stone—Octave jewelry is designed by Nigerian-born, Brooklyn-based Ope Omojola, who founded her brand in 2016. For her Moonbeam Stud Earrings, inspiration also comes from sun and moon iconography. Unlike many jewelry designers, Omojola cuts her own stones, which results in shapes not usually seen. For these earrings, she uses bowenite (a green stone that is used in many ways by New Zealand’s indigenous people, the Māori), with sterling silver posts (all of the silver Omojola uses is recycled). “I wanted to channel the shape of a beam of light through colorful stone,” notes Omojola. The Octave Moonbeam Stud Earrings are made in Brooklyn and measure 1.25l x 1.125w x 0.125"d.
