For this Traits Rectangular Ida Scarf—made in France from 90% wool and 10% silk—designer Barbara Platte was inspired by color field painting, an abstract art movement that had its prominence during the late 1950s and 1960s. Produced using eco-friendly methods, this soft, warm Traits Rectangular Scarf features patterns created through jacquard weaves. The result is an interplay of rectangular forms in intense solid colors. Examples of color field paintings by Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler and other artists are represented in MoMA’s collection. The Traits Rectangular Ida Wool & Silk Scarf measures 72.38l x 19.6"w.
