Chilewich brings depth to surfaces. Founded in 2000 by New York-based designer Sandy Chilewich, the company reimagines underutilized materials and overlooked manufacturing processes to create products that are both beautiful and useful. MoMA Design Store was the first to offer Chilewich’s early houseware designs, including innovative uses of the woven vinyl that has become a brand signature. Chilewich continues to push the boundaries of form and function with novel weaving techniques, distinctive colors, and material advances such as the development of TerraStrand: extruded yarns in which petroleum-based plasticizers are replaced with phthalate-free, renewable vegetable compounds. Durable, distinctive, and easy to clean, Chilewich designs have transformed the way people around the world set the table and have redefined the rug.
