Baba Tree Handwoven Bike Basket
Description
From the region of Bolgatanga in Ghana—known colloquially as “Bolga”—comes this handcrafted Baba Tree Bolga Bike Basket. Bolgatanga is an area known for its traditional weaving techniques, particularly baskets, and these baskets are handwoven from elephant grass by female and male artisans who are members of the Gurunsi, a tribe located in and around Bolgatanga in Ghana's Upper East Region. The artisans receive both fair wages as well as a commission for the products they create. Elephant straw is a wild and flexible grass that is harvested in the forests around Kumasi, an area around 310 miles south of Bolgatanga. The vibrant colors of the Baba Tree Bolga Handwoven Bike Basket are derived from natural dyes. The basket attaches to your bicycle handlebars with adjustable leather straps.
