MoMA Exclusive: Japan’s Nendo Studios have reimagined the wristwatch with a sartorial flourish. Mimicking a waist belt, the Nendo 10:10 Buckle Watch features a single long leather strap at the 6 o’clock position that loops around a buckle at the top of the face creating a distinctive belted look. The strap is wide enough to ensure the loops stay tight to it, to avoid slipping off. Three-dimensional hours markers add a distinctive flair to this unisex watch’s face. The Nendo 10:10 Buckle Watch has a 38mm stainless steel case and a 8.25l x .75"w strap.
Why We Chose This
Oki Sato, the designer who founded Nendo Studio, has work that's been featured in several MoMA exhibitions, including Action! Design over Time (2010-11) and Design and the Elastic Mind (2008). His Cabbage Chair, a 2007 design challenge from fashion designer Issey Miyake, is an object in the Museum's collection.
In or Related to MoMA's Collection
The Museum of Modern Art established the world's first curatorial department devoted to architecture and design. MoMA Design Store carries a selection of design objects from that collection. We only offer authorized versions in the colors and materials selected by the original designers. MoMA's design collection is ever-changing, a reflection of the evolving field of design itself.
