Why We Chose This
In 2015, the Museum staged the exhibition Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960–1971, the first MoMA exhibition dedicated exclusively to Ono’s work. The show included her collaborations with John Lennon from the late ‘60s that boldly communicated her commitment to promoting world peace. By the early ‘70s, her artwork had become ubiquitous in the public realm, appearing on billboards and in newspapers. Ono’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection.
