“Normally we use flowers grown on contracted farms in Korea,” explains Soojeong Shin. “Sometimes we use some flowers and plants imported from the US, Europe, Japan and China.”
“Our florists place plants and flowers inspired by a season into the bottle, fill it with a plant preservation solution and seal it. We have to rely on the unpredictable patterns of nature—so sometimes we’re not able to obtain the beautiful plants we’ve chosen for a particular design.”
“The most beautiful moments of nature may be remembered in our minds, long after they’ve faded away. This notion led to the creation of these designs—the desire to show that moment more beautifully, and for a long time.”
This Korea-based studio was founded by Soojeong Shin and Jiseon Park, two designers who majored in floral design, landscaping and interior design. For Style Jieum, Shin and Park create designs that allow people to coexist with flowers and plants on a daily basis. “Korea is a beautiful country with four seasons,” Shin notes. “We choose the materials for each of our designs based on how we want to cherish these changing seasons.”
