MoMA EXCLUSIVE: Women didn't have sports bras until 1977, when three women developed what eventually became this Champion racerback silhouette. Inspired by a visual joke in which her husband wore his jock strap upside down across his chest, one of the designers tried it herself and realized that the soft silhouette of “a jock strap for her” could provide comfort and support while running by pulling the breast close to the chest wall. This cotton-rich sports bra utilizes Double Dry™ technology to wick sweat away and keep you cooler, and features a play on the MoMA logo. The MoMA Champion Sports Bra is available in sizes S-XL. Champion is a manufacturer with work in MoMA's collection.
 
Please note that Champion logo appears on the front and back of our Small size, and only on the back of the Medium, Large and XL sizes. If you're unsure of size, please take one size up from your normal size.

This sports bra is manufactured by Champion, a manufacturer with work in MoMA's collection. A Champion Hooded Sweatshirt from the 1980s is an object in the Museum's collection and was also featured in MoMA's 2018 exhibition Items: Is Fashion Modern?
