MoMA Exclusive: A quirky, conversation-sparking addition to your home decor, the NYC Pretzel Light is crafted in Japan from real bread. The bread is hollowed out and preserved with an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal resin coating. Contains an integrated LED that gives off soft mood lighting. Includes a small hook on the back for hanging. Powered by standard plug-in. The NYC Pretzel Wall Light measures 1.25h x 6”diam. (As each light is handmade, dimensions may vary.)

Popular among the designs we offer at MoMA Design Store are products that resemble food, from candles to plushes. This light actually began its life as a real food item—a baked soft pretzel—but has been rendered everlasting by a resin coating. Examples of faux food sculptures, such as Claes Oldenburg’s False Food Selection (c. 1966) are featured in MoMA’s collection.
