Why We Chose This
Czech designer Ladislav Sutnar began developing building block toys in the early 1920s based on his devout interest in the concept of "modular cities." His building blocks were specifically designed for mass conveyor-belt production and they now invoke a certain type of charm and nostalgia for factory towns. The Factory Town Building Blocks set is a design in MoMA's collection and Sutnar's work was featured in the Museum's 2012 exhibition Century of the Child: Growing by Design, 1900–2000.
Authenticity Guarantee
At MoMA Design Store, all of the designs we sell are curator-approved and authentic. We ensure the integrity of our products through research and by working closely with the designers. Our products embody the spirit of good design objects in MoMA's collection. Some of them are actual designs represented in the Museum's collection.
