This monograph, the first in English, is the fruit of lengthy research and presents many new facts and documents not explored in the previous Rosso literature. The author, Margaret Scolari Barr, Italian by birth, American by training, is well acquainted with the two countries to which Rosso belonged: Italy and France. By corresponding and interviews with Rosso's family and surviving friends she has gone far in reconstructing the artist's problematic career in the light of new findings and has examined his work from an international and contemporary point of view. 92 pp.; 68 illus. Published in 1963 and edited by Margaret Scolari Barr, this rare book from MoMA Publications is available in extremely limited quantities. Each book from this special selection has been stored for decades in MoMA’s warehouse. MoMA’s award-winning publications program has been an integral part of the Museum’s mission since its founding in 1929. These exhibition- and collection-related titles are renowned for their high production values.
