MoMA Shopping Bag Felt Holiday Ornament

“The idea for the ornaments and wreath we designed for MoMA emerged from a wonderful conversation we had with the MoMA Product team,” explains Craftspring founder Anne-Laure Py. “Our shared sense of values, design sensibilities, and love for New York City aligned and inspired these products, which all celebrate the Museum and NYC.”

“Our designs are made by hand using traditional and modern techniques. We sketch, develop, and prototype the samples in our Brooklyn studio. After a design has been approved, we work with our artisan partners to interpret the design based on their expertise and handicraft specializations. Felt is made, dyed, cut, sewn and embroidered by hand to craft each individual piece.”

“One of our favorite designs is the MoMA Highlights Book Ornament, which features two iconic artworks in the Museum’s collection: Oskar Schlemmer’s Bauhaus Stairway and Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. We really enjoyed being able to study these works, figuratively dissecting them and then putting them back together again in a way that would make it possible to craft them by hand with felt and embroidery.”
