Why We Chose This
Issey Miyake’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection, most notable his A-POC Queen Textile (1997), a collaboration with Fuijwara Dai, which is a system of producing self-tailored clothes. It involves fabric tubes with seams woven into them, so the wearer can cut along them as they like and create their own silhouettes. The work was included in MoMA’s 2017–2018 exhibition Items: Is Fashion Modern?
