“From a design perspective, the translucency of glass and how it interacts with light is captivating,” says Remark co-founder Danielle Ruttenberg. “It’s also a material that, if properly maintained, can be remelted an infinite number of times. The use of bottle glass as a medium can be challenging, but it’s exciting to push the limits every day.”

“We assess the bottles by different criteria: thickness, diameter, color. Recently we were collecting a lot of 1.5L bottles from a local vineyard. We thought the size and volume would be a great fit for a pitcher. After some prototyping, we determined the ideal height for it to sit on a table.”

“We torched the sides to add handles that fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, and added a spout for easy pouring. The rest was simple: what else do you need with a pitcher, but two cups. A few wine bottles and a bit of creativity later, and you’ve got our pitcher set.”
