The Soft-Serve Lamp is 3D-printed in Stockholm using recycled bioplastics such as rPLA and rPETG, primarily made from food packaging waste. This on-demand, small-scale production model allows for minimal waste and hands-on experimentation.
The inspiration started with the organic form of swirled ice cream that was then translated into a sculptural silhouette using digital tools and a slow, layered printing technique that adds depth and texture. Sustainability and local production are woven into every part of the process.
The colors of the portable Soft-Serve Lamps are inspired by ice cream and sorbet flavors: cloudberry, blueberry sorbet and rose sorbet.
This design studio was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2022 by Jacqueline Kessidis and Lucas Lind, a couple with backgrounds in marketing and UX design. What began as a side project, designing and 3D-printing a lamp for their own apartment soon evolved into a full-fledged design studio after the now-iconic Soft Serve lamp captured the attention of friends and design lovers alike. Their work blends Scandinavian minimalism with playful, tactile forms to create distinctive, contemporary pieces.
