The fabric is 100% cotton in a flatweave construction, manufactured by Maharam, a company founded in Chicago in 1902 by Russian immigrant Louis Maharam. Girard, who was born in New York City in 1907, is known for the fabrics he created for George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. This rug is woven by highly skilled, independent artisans through an environmentally and socially responsible resource
