Make waves anywhere in your home with this undulating Mini Wavy Lamp, now in a portable, rechargeable version. This chic little lamp is 3D-printed in Brooklyn using recycled PLA, a bio-derived plastic made from fermented plant starch. The lamp’s form is inspired by comb jellyfish that live in the Pacific Ocean and it can live on your living room table, by your bedside or on your desk. Plus, its compact size makes it perfect for smaller living spaces. Due to the 3D printing process, each lamp will have minor variations in color and texture, making each one unique.

Why We Chose This
Our quest for designs made locally—in this case, Brooklyn—from sustainable materials using innovative techniques led us to the Mini Wavy Lamp. To achieve the lamp's wavy shape, designer Sean Kim experimented with a CNC machine to create a wavy mold for a CBD chocolate bar and a knife rack. Once satisfied with the shape, he 3D-printed the Wavy Lamp from a corn-based bioplastic.

Sean Kim is the founder of the Brooklyn-based company Wooj. The brand utilizes a combination of robotics and craft manufacturing techniques to create products at a low cost without exploitative labor. Kim loves 3D printing because it empowers ideas to become physical products in a matter of hours instead of weeks, and eliminates the need for mass production for factories. His Wavy Lamp has become a social media hit.
