Wonderfully realistic, this Heirloom Tomato Candle tricks the eye with its striking resemblance to a real tomato. The candles are hand-poured in small batches using 100% beeswax and molds made from real heirloom tomatoes, which capture the vegetable’s bumpy shape and texture. This beeswax candle is created by actual beekeepers on a women-led, family farm in Merced, California, in the heart of Central Valley. The farm ensures the well-being of their honey bees so that their species lives on long after we are gone. Designed to serve as both ambient lighting—providing a warm, soft glow—and as a decorative accent, this Heirloom Tomato Candle has an approximate burn time of six hours. The candle produces a pleasingly rich beeswax scent. Burning beeswax is also a good way to purify the air in your space, as it releases negative ions that clear toxins, dust and dander. Because the candles are handmade, slight differences in color and appearance may occur, making each one unique. Always place lit candles on a non-flammable surface. “Our process begins with real fruits and vegetables,” explains Happy Organics founder Jessica Gonzalez. “I draw inspiration from the produce grown on my family’s farms and from the fruits we grew up picking and selling in the Central Valley of California.”

“The real fruit or vegetable is used to create the custom silicone mold. By molding directly from real produce, each candle captures subtle details and natural irregularities.”

“Once the beeswax is clean, it is melted and hand-poured into the silicone molds that have been fitted with cotton wicks. We let the beeswax cool before removing them from the molds and we then carefully remove any excess ridges of wax from the edges or bottoms of each candle.”
