MoMA Exclusive: Yoko Ono’s book Grapefruit is a pioneering work of conceptual art that offers poetic instructions challenging and expanding the boundaries of art, which is now celebrating its 60th anniversary. The instructions for “Voice Piece for Soprano” have been reproduced on this special-edition Yoko Ono Tote Bag for MoMA, manufactured by materials science company PANGAIA. The PANGAIA Yoko Ono Voice Piece for Soprano Tote Bag is responsibly made in Portugal from 78% Cotton and 22% Hemp Oilseed BioFibre™. Agraloop™ BioFibre™ is a textile-grade fiber that’s made by refining natural fibers derived from agricultural crops, such as oilseed hemp leftovers. With Agraloop's specialized wet processing technique, cellulose fiber from stems and leaves are purified into soft fiber bundles ready to spin into yarns.

Machine wash cold. Do not iron on print. Wash separately and inside out. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Iron low. Do not dry clean.

Since emerging onto the international art scene in the early 1960s, Yoko Ono has made profound contributions to visual art, performance, filmmaking, and experimental music. Born in Tokyo in 1933, she moved with her family to New York in the mid-1950s and enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College. Over the next decade she lived in New York, Tokyo, and London, greatly influencing the international development of Fluxus and Conceptual art. An artist represented in the Museum’s collection, her work has been featured in various MoMA exhibitions, including Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960–1971 in 2015 and Tokyo 1955–1970: A New Avant-Garde in 2012–2013. .
