v117429-117429 v117429

With HAY's popular About series, Danish designer Hee Welling has proven that a single strong idea can lead to a wealth of stylish spinoffs. What started as a simple chair has developed into a truly pragmatic furniture suite that's able to blend in or stand out, depending on the task it is assigned. This curvy version of About a Chair offers a welcoming and comfortable seat that exists somewhere between a lounge chair and an easy chair. Composed of a polypropylene seat and matt lacquered oak wood legs, the HAY About a Chair 22's simple design expression makes it both laidback and elegant. Danish design studio HAY is a manufacturer in MoMA's collection.

HAY About a Chair 22

  • HAY

HAY, founded in 2002 in Denmark by husband-and-wife team Mette and Rolf Hay, was born with the idea of offering thoughtful, functional, beautiful and high-quality designs at accessible prices. HAY is represented as a manufacturer in MoMA’s collection with several objects, such as the Prince Chair, a 2002 design by Louise Campbell. Devised for a competition to create a chair for the Crown Prince of Denmark, its seat resembles an unfolded paper cutout. Another design in the collection, Stefan Diez’s 2013 Rope Trick Lamp, is inspired by power transfer coils common to CNC hardware.

Authenticity Guarantee

At MoMA Design Store, all of the designs we sell are curator-approved and authentic. We ensure the integrity of our products through research and by working closely with the designers. Our products embody the spirit of good design objects in MoMA's collection. Some of them are actual designs represented in the Museum's collection.
