Emeco On & On Recycled Stackable Chair
Learn more about our process
Description
Made in the USA from RPET, a recycled and recyclable polymer produced from reclaimed plastic water bottles mixed with fiberglass, the lightweight On & On Chair is stackable in a spiral (up to six). Ideal for any indoor or outdoor space, the 31" high On & On Chair is designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for Emeco, an American manufacturer represented in MoMA’s collection.
Why We Chose This
Emeco created their first chair, a design by Carlyle Dinges, as a government commission from the American Navy in 1944. The realities of WWII meant material restrictions and a need for a durable design for life aboard ships. Thus, Emeco's first chairs were made of salvaged aluminum. Emeco continues this tradition of local, Pennsylvania-based manufacturing and a focus on recycled and sustainable materials, working with contemporary designers like Jasper Morrison and Baber & Osgerby to create eco-friendly, durable and beautiful chair designs.
