Description
Versatile and beautiful, the HAY Copenhague 90 Desk was designed as part of a commission for the Bouroullec brothers to create furniture for the University of Copenhagen. Aiming to create a comfortable environment that would encourage students to stay in school, the university needed the designs to have a warm and domesticated touch, while still being low-cost and practical. The Bouroullec brothers approached the task by merging classic cues from design history with modern technology. This desk draws on a nostalgic mid-century silhouette that has been tweaked with rigorously clean lines and asymmetrical legs. The HAY Copenhague 90 Desk is made from a solid wood frame; plywood tabletop with linoleum and measures 29.25h x 51.25w x 25.75"d.Ā Both the Bouroullec brothers and the manufacturer HAY are represented in MoMA's collection.
