Designed by Jean Prouvé in 1930 for the dormitories of the Cité Universitaire in Nancy, the Lampe de Bureau is an unassuming essay in simplicity of form and materials. It’s made from sheet steel, elegantly bent to form a stand and piano light-like diffuser. Ideal to illuminate a desk, the 8.75” x 9.5” Lampe de Bureau is powder coated in colors derived from the original hues favored by Prouvé. Both Prouvé and the manufacturer, Vitra, are represented in MoMA’s collection.
