With a stand that resembles a leafy branch, this collectible lamp design by Yoshitomo Nara features a shade printed with artwork by Nara. As an art object, the lamp was first featured in Nara’s 2017 solo exhibition For Better or Worse, staged at a museum in Toyota, Japan. The artwork on the shade includes the text, “I’m Not Sleepy But There’s No Place, I’m Going To….”  Yoshitomo Nara’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection.

The Yoshitomo Nara Table Lamp is powered by a USB cord and wall adapter (includes a set of four international adapters). The lamp is not rechargeable and must be plugged in to power the integrated 4W LED 3000K lighting source. The light is turned on with a pull chain with attached small red ball. The lamp has a steel base and plastic shade. It measures 18.5h x 8.7”w. For indoor use only.

Yoshitomo Nara

Since the mid-1990s, Yoshitomo Nara has exhibited around the world, working with a range of institutions he feels a strong affinity with. His approach to art-making is similarly dependent on his sense of connection to the process of creating; his paintings are expressions of colors that breathe life into his bold images; his sculptures bear traces of his fingers that have shaped their forms; and his drawings, a daily practice, capture the spontaneity of thoughts. Nara has also exhibited his photographic works to depict his daily life and travels. To celebrate the long relationship with Yoshitomo Nara and MoMA, we’ve closely collaborated to create an exclusive line of products that feature details of Nara’s work. Yoshitomo Nara’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection.
