Founded by Dutch designers Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, Studio Job creates work that explores the macabre, the bizarre, and the mundane, drawing references from the medieval to pop culture, producing objects characterized by strong narrative and exceptional, ornate execution. In collaboration with Maharam, Studio Job surpasses conventional ideas of what can be achieved on the loom. Based on a limited-edition collection from 2008 that consisted of five pieces of Indian rosewood furniture inlaid with vivid laser-cut marquetry, Bavaria Stripe features repeating ribbons of simple farm iconography—pitchforks, apples, picket fences, tomatoes, geese, and life-sized horseflies. The manufacturer has work in MoMA's collection. Made in the USA. Dry-clean only. 17h x 17w x 5"d.
