Why We Chose This
Anglepoise has been creating task lights for 80 years and their lamps are considered British design classics. Each of their table lamps uphold the original design concept while also incorporating modern features useful in the present day, such as LED options and energy-saving bulbs. The original Anglepoise was invented in 1931 by car designer George Carwardine, who developed a theoretical concept for balancing weights using springs, cranks and levers.
Function plays a large role in defining good design. When designers look at an object, they don't just consider its aesthetic appearance—they should also challenge it to be more versatile, to respond to the user's need, or to achieve its purpose more elegantly. Good design has the capacity to solve problems that sometimes we didn't even know we had. This is one of the ways design touches and enriches our everyday life.
