Flos Snoopy Lamp
Description
This design from 1967 takes its light-hearted shape and name from the beloved cartoon character. Updated in 2003 with new technology, the Snoopy Lamp gives direct, dimmable light through a glass disk and enameled reflector which rest in perfect balance on the lamp’s slightly angled marble base. Set the Snoopy Lamp on your desk or workspace to outshine the traditional banker’s lamp while making a sly reference to it. Available with shade in black or MoMA Exclusive orange. The designers, brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, have work in MoMA’s collection. Bulb (included): 72W/BT15/E26 halogen. Internal dimmer and switch. The Snoopy Lamp is made in Italy. Why We Chose This
The Snoopy Lamp was designed by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, internationally acknowledged masters of Italian design whose work is represented in MoMA's collection. Their work is known for combining simplicity with fun, along with close attention to how objects are used in real life. In 1997, MoMA launched the first individual retrospective of Achille's work with the exhibition Achille Castiglioni: Design! Prior to that, his designs were featured in numerous exhibitions at the Museum, including The Modern Movement in Italy: Architecture and Design (1954) and Recent Acquisitions: Design (1967-8 and 1970-1).
