OLED Dandelion Objet d’Art
Description
MoMA Exclusive: “My work seeks to grasp ephemeral moments, like those taken in photography,” says designer Takao Inoue. His poetic desktop or bedside sculptures preserve fleeting natural phenomena—dandelions he gathers by hand every spring—in clear acrylic, illuminated by a mercury-free, organic LED (OLED). With a soft, pulsating glow showcasing its delicate seed head, the piece makes a meditative focal point. OLEDs have naturally suppressed blue light, making them ideal as soothing nightlights that won’t disturb sleep. Unlike conventional LEDs, OLEDs can last up to 10 years. Rechargeable by the built-in lithium battery via magnetic USB-C cable (included) for up to 30 hours of light on a charge.
