Bouroullec Brothers Copenhague Chair Oak
Description
This chair by brothers and Parisian designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, whose works are featured in the MoMA collection, is part of a furniture series for the University of Copenhagen, which might explain their attractive combination of artistic form and durable versatility. Inspired by architect Berndt Petersen's classic Trestle Chair, the highly flexible, resilient and stackable chair's legs meet in an inverse V, with two molded veneer shells that meet in the middle. The strength of the design is due to the lamination technique that was first pioneered by the Bauhaus school. As many as eight chairs can be stacked together, which might be just as handy for home entertainers as it is for university profs.

Available only online and at MoMA Design Store in Soho, 81 Spring Street.
