The M’Afrique collection is handmade from painted steel and woven wire and threads at workshops in Dakar, Senegal as part of Patrizia Moroso’s initiative to showcase modern Africa’s creativity and innovative use of materials and weaving. Moroso, a manufacturer in MoMA’s collection, worked with international designers Tord Boontje, Sebastian Herkner and Concetta Giannangeli on the M’Afrique collection.
Named for its fantastically tall back that curves above the wearer to provide shade, the M’Afrique Shadowy Armchair is a colorfully woven furniture piece, featuring bold patterns of interwoven stripes, and curved sides that complement its back. The M’Afrique Shadowy Armchair is suited for indoor or outdoor use, and is available in Black/White and Orange.
