This iconic Danish design from the 1950s draws its name from the playful shape of the seat back. Designed by architect and furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen, this light rocking chair is distinguished by clean lines and the natural beauty of wood. Each chair is one-of-a-kind in the appeal of its delicate surface markings, distinctive wood grain and leather-upholstered seat, which will develop an attractive patina with age and use. Choose from walnut seat back with black leather seat or soaped oak seat back with cognac leather seat. Made in Denmark and manufactured by Brdr. Petersen.
Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921–2003) graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Denmark and quickly established a reputation as one of the best designers in Denmark and internationally. He was continually inspired by the natural beauty of wood in its rawest form—drawn to each tree’s unique graining that enabled him to produce one-of-a-kind designs. He reached the height of his popularity during the 1960s and his work has recently sparked new interest, as devotees of midcentury modern design covet and collect his furniture designs.
