Magis Rectangular Steelwood Table
Description
French brothers and design partners Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec saw a European design scene dominated by plastics and decided to develop an alternative. Their Steelwood line layers strong steel with the warm beauty of wood for a unique aesthetic and structural system. The table pairs classic white or black laminate round tops with natural Beech wood frames with resin-covered steel joints. Used in a kitchen, library, or office, it’s an eye-catching design punctuated by intriguing contrasts. Produced by Magis for Herman Miller®, a manufacturer in MoMA’s collection. Made in Italy.

Paris-based brothers and design partners Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have been working together since the mid-90s. Their work includes a wide range of designs, including furniture, home accents, and tech. Their earliest design in MoMA’s collection, the Square Vase, was created in 1999. Since then, several of the brothers’ designs have been added to the collection, and the MoMA Design Store regularly seeks out the latest examples of their work, such as the Belleville Chair, a piece that manifests their core attributes of minimalism and elegance. Their work has also been included in four of the Museum’s exhibitions.
