Molekule gets the job done with a light-activated nanoparticle filter. The PECO filter works by light shining onto the filter membrane, coated with proprietary nanoparticles. This creates a catalytic reaction on the filter surface that breaks down the molecular structure of pollutants. PECO is the successor of PCO technology which works on a similar principle but is much less effective. This technology has been developed over the past 20 years at the University of Florida, funded by the EPA.
Molekule features all of these operating modes:
Auto: This mode takes your inputs to find an optimal running point for your room. In this mode, Molekule will maintain your room air quality tailored specifically to your environment.
Boost: In Boost mode the device runs at its maximum speed. Use this mode when you’re in need of a strong clean. For example after dusting and cleaning the house with detergents.
Silent: Molekule runs silently. While the speed of air flowing through the device is reduced, the device still cleans the air effectively.
Dark Mode: This mode turns off the light of the device for people sensitive to it while sleeping. We recommend using the mode only as necessary, since the light enables and excites the Nano-Filter, allowing for it to break down pollutants. In this mode, your Nano-Filter will function similar to a conventional filter capturing pollutants in the air. Only when the light is on, it is able to destroy pollutants from your air.
