Fucsia 1, Clear cord
Description
An industrial aesthetic meets sophisticated details in Achille Castiglioni’s conical pendant light. Incorporating both direct and diffused light, the sleek, blown glass diffuser is softened by a sandblasted edge and a translucent silicone ring. A classic white ceiling rose caps off the composition. Hang a series of these pendants over a kitchen island or workspace. Installation required. Made in Italy. Both the designers and the manufacturer, Flos, are represented in MoMA’s collection.
Born in Milan in 1918, Achille Castiglioni is an internationally acknowledged master of Italian design. During his 52-year career, he designed and collaborated on nearly 150 design objects, from lamps to cameras to car seats. His work is known for combining simplicity with fun, along with close attention to how objects are used in real life. In 1997, MoMA launched the first individual retrospective of his work with the exhibition Achille Castiglioni: Design! Prior to that, his designs were featured in numerous exhibitions at the Museum, including The Modern Movement in Italy: Architecture and Design (1954) and Recent Acquisitions: Design (1967-8 and 1970-1). Castiglioni’s work has had a significant impact on the history of the applied arts and has taught generations about good design.
• 192" cord (length can be shortened during installation).
• UL certified.
• Requires one 40W R50 E14 reflector incandescent (included).
