After studying architecture in Germany Gego immigrated to Venezuela where she worked as an architect and furniture designer before turning to sculpture painting drawing and printmaking in the early 1950s. Her work comprises an investigation of line in forms ranging from environmental room-sized sculptural installations to prints and drawings. The SUPERGEOMETRIC collection from the UNIQLO at MoMA collaboration envisions the essential elements of geometry – line form and color--and their potential to take on new forms. Gego’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection.
