littleBits - Base
Description
littleBits is electronic modules that snap together with tiny magnets for prototyping, learning, and fun. Each bit has a specific function (light, sound, sensors, buttons, thresholds, pulse, motors, etc), and modules snap to make larger circuits. Just as LEGO™ allows you to create complex structures with very little engineering knowledge, littleBits are small, simple, intuitive, blocks that make creating with sophisticated electronics a matter of snapping small magnets together. Instruction with project ideas are included in each kit. Pipe cleaners, feathers and cardboard featured in image are sold separately. Ages 8 years and up.

Designed by MIT graduate and TED Senior Fellow Ayah Bdeir, littleBits was featured in the 2011 Museum's exhibition Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects and is part of the Museum's collection.

Get started with the base kit, which comes with 10 bits plus everything you'll need to start designing and prototyping your own interactive creations, including a 9V battery, an attractive, re-usable case, and the motorMate, which makes it easy to attach wheels and other materials to the DC motor. There's also a handy Project Booklet with step-by-step instructions for 8 amazing projects.

The deluxe kit is the biggest collection of Bits&trade Modules, and offers the most possibilities of any littleBits Kit! The 18 color-coded modules included snap together to make extra-large circuits. The kit also includes a battery and an expanded Project Booklet packed with spectacular ideas.
