Inspired by an Etruscan goldsmith technique, this bowl has a dot pattern hammered into. The grain arrangement of the dots follows a geometric sequence generated by Fibonacci, an Italian mathematician who first translated the golden logic of classical proportions into numbers. The selection of brass as a material combines Alessi’s historic production legacy and a renewed interest in the exploration of material surface. Jasper Morrison and the bowl’s manufacturer, Alessi, are both represented in MoMA’s collection. Made of food-safe brass in Italy. Clean with soft cloth.
