MoMA Exclusive: “Blurry, contrasting, pure, rhythmic, cold, warm…Everyone gets lost depending on situations and desires,” says designer Jean Nouvel of the immersive abstraction of his interactive On Lines Table Light. A series of colored methacrylate diffusers (orange, red, blue, yellow, and frosted) slots into its LED-illuminated aluminum base to evoke an abstract painting, your city’s luminous skyline, or any mood that pure light and form can reflect. The lamp is touch dimmable in keeping with its elegantly minimal design. Jean Nouvel is a designer represented in MoMA’s collection.
Features of the On Lines Table Light include:
12h x 12w x 5"d
Built-in LED lamp board
15 W / 110 - 240 V / 1700 lm 78.7" cord
Why We Chose This
"A simple and precise game of colored surfaces,” says Jean Nouvel, a designer and architect represented in MoMA’s collection, of his On Lines Lamp. “On a bright line, everyone imagines his own skyline.” Nouvel’s work has been featured in some of MoMA’s exhibitions, including Dreamland: Architectural Experiments since the 1970s in 2008-2009. Nouvel is also the architect of 53W53, the tower adjacent to the Museum which will feature three levels of MoMA gallery space.
In or Related to MoMA's Collection
The Museum of Modern Art established the world's first curatorial department devoted to architecture and design. MoMA Design Store carries a selection of design objects from that collection. We only offer authorized versions in the colors and materials selected by the original designers. MoMA's design collection is ever-changing, a reflection of the evolving field of design itself.
