Once unfolded these die-cut and hand-assembled cards made from recycled paper reveal a view of the New York City skyline from the East River. The Skyline Card is the work of architect Ted Naos whose papercraft skills have been exhibited in The Museum of Modern Arts holiday card program. Since 1954 The Museum of Modern Art has produced an annual line of Christmas cards featuring imagery by artists and designers. The collection is renowned for showcasing artwork from designers who later go on to become notable artists such as Alexander Calder Andy Warhol and Joseph Cornell and some of these early MoMA Christmas cards themselves are in MoMA’s collection.
