This diecast metal model represents a 1972 Citroën D Special, a type of car that caused shock waves across the industry when the Citroën DS debuted in 1955 at a show in Paris. It brought original ideas to the market, most notably its hydropneumatics suspension. Years later, the head of Citroën simplified the car and added ID to the name. By 1970, it became the Citroën D Special and had earned its reputation as a legend of the car industry. This miniature 1972 Citroën D Special Model Collectible is made on a scale of 1:18 and measures 3.95h x 10.25w x 3.55"d. It’s made for collectors and is not intended for children. A 1973 Citroën DS 23 sedan is in MoMA’s collection.
