This Cane Basket with Lid is a traditional Portuguese design handwoven by artisans from cane that grows along the Guadiana river shores. Often carried by locals in Algarve as well as Baixo Alentejo, the basket became a sartorial statement when actress, singer and style icon Jane Birkin was seen using it as a chic everyday bag and at red carpet events. The lid is securely attached to the handle so you can easily tote your own daily essentials everywhere, from the farmers market to the park. A Vida Portuguesa is a small women-owned, Lisbon-based shop  focused on goods made in Portugal. The Cane Basket with Lid measures 15h x 10"diam.
