This A Vida Portuguesa Packaged Graphite Pencil is made by Viarco, the oldest and only pencil manufacturer in Portugal. The company was founded by industrialist and entrepreneur Manoel Vieira de Araújo in the 1930s, and is still family-owned to this day. To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Viarco reissued some of their products exclusively for A Vida Portuguesa, a Lisbon-based, women-owned shop focused on crafts made in Portugal. This special edition features classic packaging that is as charming today as it was back then. Use yours to jot down notes, write in a journal or draw quick sketches. The A Vida Portuguesa Packaged Graphite Pencil measures 7.4"l.

Why We Chose This
Here at MoMA Design Store, we have always championed the tradition of original products, made with care by local artisans. This everyday design was sourced by A Vida Portuguesa, a small Lisbon-based shop focused on goods made in Portugal. A Vida Portuguesa celebrates brands that have survived the passage of time and highlights the quality of Portuguese manufacturing and design.

Authenticity Guarantee

At MoMA Design Store, all of the designs we sell are curator-approved and authentic. We ensure the integrity of our products through research and by working closely with the designers. Our products embody the spirit of good design objects in MoMA's collection. Some of them are actual designs represented in the Museum's collection.
