MoMA Exclusive: A collaboration between watchmaker Anicorn’s Trio of Time program and design practice Actual Source, the Thermal Watch is a special timepiece that incorporates the unique "Thermal" typeface originally designed for Virgil Abloh's Re-Creation Center at Nike Lab Chicago in 2019. This watch explores the thermal printing technique, which is often used to imprint expiration dates on consumer goods. Originally restricted to a limited set of letters, the typeface now includes lowercase letters, punctuation, diacritics, and notably, Roman numerals. These numerals on the face offer a pixelated world where precision and fluid motion can coexist in harmony. The watch features Japanese Miyota 2035 Quartz movement, 316L stainless steel, mineral glass, 5ATM water-resistance, and a genuine leather strap. The Actual Source Thermal Watch has a 39mm case, 8.7mm case thickness and the band measures 0.70w x 7.48”l excluding case and buckle.
