Álvaro Siza, who has work in MoMA’s collection, was inspired by his iconic Leça Swimming Pool complex when designing this Diamond Watch for Lebond, a Barcelona-based brand that produces unique timepieces in collaboration with renowned architects. “I want to create something different,” says Siza. The case shape is based on the square pool built within the beach at Leça de Palmeira in Portugal while the hands are adapted from the minimal restroom signs that the architect has used in multiple projects. As comfortable as it is stylish, this watch has a durable black rubber strap, a lightweight micro-sanded matte titanium case, and a sapphire crystal face.

Features of the Álvaro Siza Lebond Diamond Watch include:

  • Titanium grade 5, micro-sanded matte-finish case with anti-fingerprint coating.
  • Water-resistant to up to 50 meters.
  • Front sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
  • Back sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating with Álvaro Siza’s signature.

Álvaro Siza

Álvaro Siza (born 1933) is a Portuguese architect who is known for striking a balance between regional tradition and global design currents. Constructed over the course of a 60-year career that continues to expand geographically, his poetic forms are technologically innovative yet restrained responses to the complex interplay of topography, cultural context, and design. MoMA's collection contains more than 100 sketches, models and photographs of his architectural projects and he has been featured in exhibitons at the Museum, including On-Site: New Architecture in Spain (2006).
