Why We Chose This
“I used to drink it. I used to have the same lunch every day, for 20 years, I guess, the same thing over and over again," Warhol said of his most famous inspiration, Campbell's Soup. While Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) mimics the uniformity of advertising, each of the 32 canvases that comprise the work are hand-painted, resulting in subtle variations in the cans' red and white tones, as well as the hand-stamped fleur-de-lis patterns.
