In Drums, you can sample eight unique sounds, and play them back exactly as recorded. Your Bass sample will get tuned to a lower register, perfect for laying the foundation, while your Lead sample will get pitched higher for playing melodies. With Chords, your sound will be automatically tuned into a beautiful three- or four-part harmony.

Orba 3 includes 300 high-quality sample-based sounds. From traditional instruments like guitars, pianos, and organs, to experimental sounds built using Artiphon’s unique synth, you’ll never run out of inspiration. Using the Artiphon Connect app, you can select from dozens of Sound Packs – pre-designed templates, perfect for fast idea generation – or spend time picking the perfect palette sound by sound for your next masterpiece. While sampling on the fly is easy with the new embedded microphone, you can also use the Artiphon Connect app to upload your own samples to make custom Drums, Bass, Chord, and Lead parts.
On Loop
In addition, Orba 3 has an integrated looper that can be used to compose songs. Using the “A” button as a menu function, you’ll quickly start recording right on the device – no strings attached, and no additional screens are required. Play along with an easy-to-follow “click track,” as you begin to layer your parts. Orba 3 has a built-in quantize function which helps tidy up the timing of your notes so they line up perfectly with the beat. If you play or record music and some notes are a little off, Orba will automatically smooth things over.
Shape Your Sound
Nine responsive gestures like Tap, Tilt, Shake, and others allow you to shape and customize your playing even further. Even a simple Press on Orba is more expressive than your average electronic instrument; Orba is velocity and pressure-sensitive, which means you can modify your sound even after you’ve struck your first chord. Move your finger around the surface of Orba (Radiate) to control the volume of your sound. Tilt Orba and hear your sound transform with added effects. In the Drum part, you can Shake a shaker that sounds like the real thing, then Bump the side of Orba to hear a clap or a tambourine. Because even the slightest micro-movements get picked up by Orba’s capacitive-sensing interface, no two performances will ever be the same.
Midi Connectivity
With MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) MIDI over USB-C and Bluetooth, Orba 3 takes your music production to new heights, offering near-zero latency for seamless performance. Whether you're in the studio or on the go, it integrates effortlessly with music-making software like Ableton Live, GarageBand, and Logic Pro X. You can even map Orba’s pads and gestures within your digital audio workstation (DAW) for hands-on control of your creations. Go beyond limiting knobs, keys, and buttons, and elevate your play.
